At 9pm tonight the 53 man roster for the Eagles will be set and official. Per CSNPhilly.com it has already been set. With a few notable surprises too
Nick Foles wins the second QB spot and Trent Edwards wins the third leaving Mike Kafka as the odd man out. A rookie emerges and a veteran proves his worth while the familiar face slides out of the picture.
The Eagles keep four RB’s. Something Andy Reid has not done before. Traditionally Reid goes with three. But this year with two outstanding rookies it was too difficult to let either go. I was expecting Brown to beat out Polk by the narrowest of margins. I’m happy that Reid decided to keep both though.
I really liked rookie FB Emil Igwenagu. Between him and Stanley Havili it was a tough call at FB. I feel that the right man won, but just another extremely tough choice to make in the Eagles backfield. I would like to see Igwenagu on the practice squad.
CB Joselio Hanson was cut. A little bit of a surprise but with the emergence of rookie CB Brandon Boykin it was hard to keep Hanson. Boykin has played well at the nickle spot and serves more versatile than Hanson as well. Boykins will also serve as a return man on special teams.
S Oshiomogho Atogwe just couldn’t get past his hamstring injury. Which really disappoints me because I believed he would have been a really good addition to our secondary at the safety position. If Atogwe was healthy I believe he would have beat out Jarrett, who is a surprise to me by making the team.
I had high expectations for WR Marvin McNutt who fell victim on final cut day. I hope he will be put on the practice squad. He has potential. While were on the topic of WR, I’m surprised that Chad Hall was released. My opinion is he was let go so the Eagles can keep both RB’s Polk and Brown. Hopefully Chad Hall is a practice squad candidate as well. He has talent.
