I have not posted anything in a few weeks. I feel as if I am slacking in my blogging duties and I do apologize for that. With that being said, my absence results in an 0-2 run for the Eagles. Coincidence? You be the judge. Hey, I’m just saying.
In all seriousness though, the Eagles luck has seemed to run out in those close games while losing the turnover battle. It was bound to catch up to them if it wasn’t corrected. And it wasn’t corrected and, as a result, they have been losing. It’s really embarrassing as an Eagles fan to see Michael Vick turning the ball over at the increasingly alarming rate that he has been. He has been turning the ball over to the point where he has pretty much lost all trust from the fans when it comes to ball security. Therefor he is on the hot seat. Nick Foles anyone?
Now the big news going into the bye week is the Eagles finally hired Juan Castillo in favor of Todd Bowles. Was it a needed change? Yes. I believe Bowless is an upgrade as Defensive Coordinator. And this is coming from a fan who believed in Castillo before the season started. But at the same time I don’t believe it was a change that should have taken precedence over the struggles on offense (i.e. Vick’s turnover rage). Sure the defensive line has struggled at getting to the QB in the last three games. But I believe the offense has been more of an issue. Obviously.
I would give Vick one more game. That being the game against the Falcons after the bye. Not only on ball security but making better judgement calls. And at the same time I would give Foles more reps in practice with the first team. Sure that would cause a huge buzz in the media. But who cares? If we need to go to Foles if Vick can’t get it together and play like we know he’s capable of then Foles need to be prepared. We only have ten games left in the season. Were going to have to win at the very least seven. Time is running out.
